Lampreia

Lampreia is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. This is what cooking is all about. High end. Just a couple of elements on each plate, combinations that will surprise you, that you don’t expect. Maximum flavor and subtle mixes. Several courses. Top notch ingredients.

My first visit was years ago, a double date Valentine’s Day dinner. This experience set the bar for many many many future restaurant visits all over Seattle. I think it introduced me to just how good fine food can be. None have surpassed Lampreia yet, in my opinion.

A quote from another more considered and professional review of Lampreia: “This meal ranks high in my pantheon of great life experiences. The sense of balance and harmony that registered with virtually every dish was astonishing.”

Memorable dishes… perfectly sauteed scallops with a black squid ink sauce… a single round ravioli with a perfectly cooked unbroken fluid egg yolk in the center… a paper-thin slice of canteloupe rolled up into a tube and filled with a crab meat mixture… a sous-vide octopus… the foie gras, no matter how it is prepared!… a kobe beef carpaccio… the cheeses… those little dessert bonbons that are there every time.. ye gods, I must go back.

Note: It’s expensive…!
